[FQP] FQP and county line stations

Just a few more comments.

I use this type of operation very seldom because most of my trips are with
a driver and I would rather be moving than sitting on a county line since
most of the time I will need to travel through that next county anyway.

However, this year in the MS QP I was operating without a driver, making
QSOs only while stopped at some preplanned points on the route to work the
pile and then driving on to my next stopping point. Using the street view
feature in Google Maps I found two county line pairs that looked like safe
stopping points so I decided to give it a try. Actually it went very well
with most of the operators on the other end sending me two exchanges -- of
course I don't know if they actually logged the two QSOs but at least they
stayed around to make them. At those two stops (FRA-ADA and FOR-LAM) 160
total Qs went in the log of a potential 162, only two stations failed to
stay around for the second QSO at FRA-ADA.

Then there is at least one case in Texas where a road actually defines the
boundary between two counties and does so for 20+ miles. That would be a
case where county line operation could be done while in motion.

Finally you might want to ask your question to Bob - W0BH as he practices
county line operation extremely well -- especially in the Texas Panhandle.
