Al,

We can't depend on ICOM picking up the tab in 2012 unless they've already
committed to doing so. Have they?

Email blasts to members can be included in my monthly Solid Copy emails
where pertinent - say, the three months preceding the event (June, July,
August).

I plan to do a major email campaign to JA contesters (as you know) but
that will not be a blast campaign (e.g. no cost).

You might think about allocating some budget for an ad in QST, NCJ, and a
JA magazine slated for, say, July or August. John, K6MM, used an ad in QST
to stir up participation in CQP, for example. And, he got a good rate.

Another possibility would be a handout for Visalia (in April) and Dayton
(in May) that would be given to attendees of contest events and also
available at the tables. Figure we would need 1000 - 500 per event. At
$0.25 per for a color page, that would be $250. Also, we could order some
CW OPEN pins to be given out at Visalia and Dayton. You can get a cost
from the same vendor we used last time around.

I would say we should budget about $500 for ads; $250 for handouts; $250
for buttons, or about $1,000 total. If we need to pay for the awards, then
we'll need to take a cut at costing that out, too.
