[ARDF] Smart phones and stupid cheaters

find ways to smuggle in their cheating instrument of choice. They'll
use little walky-talkies, or dime-size cell phones or wristwatch size
GPS devices. Banning big honking touch screens does nothing to prevent
cheating.*

*Further, allowing every participant to be the eyes of rules
enforcement, could improve both rules adherence and safety in ARDF and
other sports. Since it is possible to make it extremely difficult to
utilize without detection GPS, cell phone, Wifi, Bluetooth, unapproved
maps, etc., in an approved smart phone, there really is no reason for
them to be banned in competition. In fact, quite the contrary.*

*Of course, new ARDF rules need to be put into place before the
benefits of smart phones can be realized. And that's the reason for
launching this discussion.*
