It is great to see the WVARC reflector working again!  I have wondered if everyone from the WVARC is doing well.  I am glad to see all the activity here.

I am still active, mostly chasing DX and mostly on CW.  I used FT8 to work three new ones lately but I can't say that I like the FT8 mode.
My home station is a FT-10DX, Henry 2k amp, wires for antennas.  Might put back up the 2 element Quad in the next year pending the approval of my wife.  lolI have used the "Remote Ham Radio" website for a couple of years.  The stations available are amazing as are many of the antennas.  While it is fun, there is nothing like a home station that you love regardless of limitations.
I always think of WVARC when it comes to FD.  I only operated the 1969 with WVARC but it was a blast.  I operated the 20CW/80SSB with UHF and I think SST and CSN.  There might have been others.  The transmitter was WB6UHF's Johnson Ranger, I believe.  I brought a 20 Meter monoband beam which worked great.  Great Field Day!
After 1969 I went to Japan for a year, got married, and had three kids.  I wasn't back on the air again until around 1980 when I bought a Hallicrafters SR-150 from my friend WA6URY.  From about 1981 -  1998 I was very active DXing.  I got a TS-820s in 1982 and the Henry 2k a few years later.  I had neighbors turn me into the FCC on multiple occasions!  The FCC just sent out a CB notice that said stop using an amplifier with my CB.
I dropped the WB6YNI call for W6YR in 1996. I still miss the old call.  But my young son took it as a vanity call in 2009.
I have been keeping the WA6LXN call sign active but last year I let it lapse.  I will take care of renewing it again.
Best wishes to all of you,
Joe, W6YR (ex- WB6YNI)
