I can’t remember that far back. That may have been my first and last field day. I do remember taking the antennas off my tower and transporting them to Contractors on top of my Corvair. Quite a sight... especially the shorty forty that wasn’t disassembled very far.

Our first Contractor's Point Field Day we used Ken Beal's yagis on SSB. We learned that while Drake R4A/T4X stations worked pretty well on generators, Matt's Heath twins had troubles both with generators and RF blocking due to wider front end filters. Bill Guimont brought a KWM2 that was used for our largest ever 75 M contact total with a nice quad loop antenna. We came back to Contractors point once at which time we destroyed Tree's 204BA.

WA6LXN/6 in 1973 was my very first Field Day, and my call was even used for the Novice tent (which I also supplied). We did pretty well! See attached from the November, 1973 issue of QST.
I remember vividly that the following folks were there: WB6VZI, WB6KPN, WB6OLD, WB6FUE, WB6ZVC, K6OVJ, WB6UJY, K6JAN(?), WA6something (now N6RN).
Who else was there on Contractor's Point in 1973? Does anyone have any photos from that year?
73,
