[FQP] What Category?

This is how I understood the mobile category to be classified as well. Upon
joining the FCG only a couple or three years ago, I've participated in two
FQP's so far (the end of this month will be my third, and the weekend isn't
getting her fast enough!). Since I own a travel trailer camper, I decided I
could better help the FCG by taking my modest rig and "pot-hunt" (a term we
used when I would hunt game, years ago, in back-woods Pennsylvania that
simply meant to stay put and not move around) by setting up camp in a
semi-rare county outside of Brevard (BRE) since there are always a few
stations already operating from here. After looking at past logs I decided
on Okeechobee (OKE) county could use some help.

I too struggled with the selection of which category to choose based upon my
situation; on one hand since I had 'mobilized' and set up operations in
another county for the weekend, does this classify me as a mobile station?
Or, since I am pot-hunting from one spot for the entire weekend, does this
classify me as a 'fixed' station? After getting some guidance from others I
decided that the 'fixed' category better suits my situation, and as Marty
pointed out in his email: the defining factor was that I do not, nor am I
equipped to operate while on the fly.

Additionally, like the original email pointed out, it wasn't a matter of
attempting to win a prize in either the fixed or mobile category, etc., but
rather just wanted to be sure I was following the intent of the rules for
the contest. It has always been paramount to me to follow all rules
pertaining to all aspects of amateur radio, the FQP notwithstanding.

Just my two-bits.

In NCQP we call this multi county operating style with "non-mobile" antennas
(ie dipoles) Expedition class.

To be a mobile the rules stipulate operation capability while moving.
(motion is optional) Conversely Expedition class prohibits operation while
moving. Same reset of working folks again from new county applies to both.
