[Cwo] 2014 CW Open

My 2 cents... The end of August timeframe is good and seems important; The CW Open helps define the beginning of the contest season. A partial conflict with YO DX will have an impact, and here are the results from this year's event:

The impact is measurable, but I think it's lighter than a partial conflict with the NA CW Sprint (7 SEP 14) or WAE SSB/NA Sprint SSB (13 SEP 14). Those two events are actually fun, despite the microphone....

Or we could work with the Ohio QSO Party folks. We move to 23 AUG, they move to 30 AUG. Colorado QSO Party is in there sometime too. Just a thought.

Given what we know now, 30 AUG 14 might work OK.

I think given the choices, we're
better off with August 30. I know we
will lose a lot of players to the Sprint on Sep. 6, not
 because they
conflict, but because it would mean an uninterrupted 8 hours
 of operation
if they do the last session.
I'm not sure that a 4-hour collision with YO DX would
 do us as much
 harm.
Some comments from others? If we lock in a date, soon, we
 can plan a
low-cost ad in QST along with other international
 promotions. The only
split weekend in 2014 is in February, I think. That's
 too long to
 wait.
