I’m available any of those times so let me know when.

Interesting shift in times/days making it a bit more like the first 24 hours of CQWW with holes.

As for generating more activity from different regions I think we need to consider a couple of things:

1. What’s in it for the participant?

2. What else may be going on that weekend (this includes holidays, other contests, is this a traditional family weekend, etc.)

3. More communication besides our email blast.

4. Better publicity for the results and winners such as an article in NCJ and/or ???

5. More “bling” as I mentioned earlier that awarding the trophy to the overall winner in each session virtually guarantees it goes to the high power entry. We need to consider a broader base of awards if that’s the motivating factor.

Gents:

I’d like to organize a video conference call using OOVOO – very soon. To prepare, you’ll need a computer, a broadband net connection, either a built-in or add-on webcam (they’re about $10 from Amazon). And, that’s it. You’ll go to www.oovoo.com and set up a free account. For your screen ID, use something like ‘Al AD6E.’

Then, using the contacts tab, go to add friends, and then to find friends on OOVOO. Then put in ‘k6rb_rob’ and that’s it.

I’m thinking one night next week (other than Tues/Thurs – when I teach Level 1 CW Academy). So, Mon, Weds or Fri at, say, 0200Z.

I’d like to talk about CW Open. One idea I’d like you to consider is:

first session (Sat) at 0000-0400Z;

second session (Sat) at 0800-1200Z and

third session (Sat) at 1600Z to 2000Z.

My thinking is the first session would be good for regions 2 and 3; second session would be good for 1 and 3; and last session would be good for 1 and 2. So, two optimal and one suboptimal session in each region. By starting it at 0000Z on Saturday, we should be able to generate a lot of JA activity. For example, the CQ WW started at 0000Z and opened strongly on 10 and 15 for the first couple of hours between JA and NA. The middle session could be a good low-band NA session but more likely would be a high-band EU/AS session. The last would be good high band US/EU.

Mainly I’m trying to avoid the burnout we see on 0400-0800 session, and to entice more JA participation. If we can get a lot of activity in the first session between JAs and NAs, they will be more likely to do the 3rd session.

I think it’s the simplest change that can make a significant difference. Please reply and let me know which days work best for you:

Monday (Tues) 0200Z; Weds (Thurs) 0200Z; Friday (Sat) 0200Z. Let me know if you can do 1, 2 or 3, and which ones. Thanks.
