[Cwo] Log Submission

Somebody, perhaps you, Rob, should call him on the landline and chat with him politely. Email will not do it. If it was you who he perceived bent his nose out of joint, get somebody else to call him….

I think we have a problem, Houston. The WA7BNM calendar is used by most contesters (in the US, at any rate). We have had a cooperative relationship with Bruce since the early days of CWT. But, CW Open seems to be an odd case. Our first running conflicted with NAQP SSB and Bruce got his nose out of joint. Since then, it seems as if there’s a personal ill wind blowing. The log submission issue is only the latest.

I’m not sure how to fix this but it needs to be fixed. We rely on Bruce for log submission in CW Open and for scores submittal with CWT. The last email I had with Bruce – several months ago – he said he was real busy with other (non-calendar) projects. That’s all well and good but if you’ve established a ‘brand’ and have a loyal customer base, you have to be better at communicating. Bruce has a habit of ignoring emails. The last time I sent around 4 to 6 before I got my one reply.

If anyone has a suggestion for how best to get this fence mended, I’m all ears. I used to think it was personal because I was co-managing CW Open when it conflicted with NAQP SSB. But, after Dean’s experience, I’m not so sure.

At a minimum, we should have our own log submission URL that is independent of Bruce’s. Chalk that up for next year. I know NCCC has its own mechanism for receiving Cal QSO Party logs. We should do the same.

We are currently listed for CW Open on the annual calendar, but not on the perpetual calendar nor the CW calendar. I’ve tried to get that fixed for at least six months, now, to no avail.

I agree with Hank.

However, at this late date (and time), I would announce on the CWops reflector that if anyone has trouble with the log submission then they should simply send the log to you by email.

I have not heard from Bruce. The log submission page is not operable (I tested it).

How did submission page respond? Sometimes it won't accept before start date/time.

Any thoughts on how to reach Bruce?

No, but my experience is that Bruce will get it done (although sometimes just in the nick of time).
