Thanks for forwarding Jim,
My first reaction is "Great",
I wonder if we should offer some of the award sponsorships to other vendors?
I like Icom. I dont really like this to be known as an Icom event.
My hats off to Ray for his initiative!

He says: ".......and would like an opportunity to ASSIST in the promotion and marketing of the contest as A Sponsor". 1. What does he mean by "assist" ? Is Ray offering to pay for all of the Awards? Some of the Awards? 2. He also says "a Sponsor". Not "the Sponsor". Does that leave the door open for other sponsors too? Or would he like ICOM to be the Sole Sponsor? Either way, looks like we should go for it. 73,John, K6MM On Jul 2, 2011, at 5:30 AM, Jim Talens wrote:

> Board members (and Don, John Squared) – We have a proposal before us to accept an offer by Icom, as outlined below, for the CW Open awards, including a trophy, plaque, and certificates. Preliminary discussions among several of us point toward strong acceptance. Some questions were asked. For example, what if another sponsor comes along? Answer: We arrange for additional awards! Another question: Does it make us too much of a contest club? Answer: Of course not, because members are not required to participate and even if they do they can do so casually and just to say hi to friends, not as competitors. Overall, it seems to offer our CW Open at no cost a level of notoriety as a recognized event, and that’s important. Put differently, it really does bring us as a club into the limelight. Do you have any thoughts about this offer? Any reason not to accept? Please reply to ALL. Thanks! Jim ---------- Forwarded message ----------

> Craig, While you may not the right person to contact, I recognized the name and callsign, and knew I could trust you to direct me in the right direction. I saw a presentation for the CW Open, and would like an opportunity to assist in the promotion and marketing of the contest as a Sponsor. Currently we sponsor the ARRL Sweepstakes as well as the NAQP RTTY plaques, would this be of interest to the CW Operators’ club? Awards:
> Trophy for 1st place in each time period.
> Plaque for 1st place in each power level in each time period
> Trophy for over all combined score of all three time periods.
> Plaque for 1st place for each power level in the combined score group.
> Note: if the same entrant wins multiple awards, they may be combined.
> Certificates for achieving more than 100 QSOs in any or all time periods. Ray Novak, N9JA | Division Manager – Amateur and Receiver Products
