Happy New Year! It's going to be a great one for ARDF. We have a
wonderful site in North Carolina for the USA and IARU Region 2
Championships. The training camp, sprints and foxoring will be October
9 - 11, followed by full-course 2m and 80 competitions on the weekend
of October 12 - 13. Your hosts will be Joseph Huberman and Ruth Bromer,
with technical assistance from Charles and Nadia Scharlau and support
from Backwoods Orienteering Klub. Watch for the formal announcement
with travel, lodging and registration information, coming soon.
The other IARU regions will also be having ARDF championships in 2013.
The 19th IARU Region 1 ARDF Championships will be September 9 - 15 at
Kudowa Zdroj, Poland. Visiting competitors from the USA are welcome.
Korean Amateur Radio League will host the 9th IARU Region 3 ARDF
Championships at Hongcheon Gangwon Province, September 1 - 6. Note that
islands such as Guam and American Samoa are inside Region 3. Thus the
ARRL, which represents hams in these islands, is a member society of
IARU Region 3. This means that participants from anywhere in the USA
and its territories aren't considered to be "visitors," but are
eligible to be on the ARRL team at the Region 3 championships. If
you're interested in traveling to Korea to be on Team USA for these
championships, please contact me. A Letter of Intent to send a team is
due to the Korean organizers by March 31. Be prepared to dig deeply
into your wallet, because in addition to airfare overseas, the
individual participation fee is US$600 plus transportation fee between
the Vivaldi Park Ski Resort and Incheon/Seoul.
Lastly, the European Youth ARDF Championships will take place in Tri
Studne, Czech Republic from June 12 - 16. The maximum age is 16 years
(birthdays in 1997 and later). More information is at
http://eyac2013.com.
73 and enjoy ARDF in 2013,
Joe Moell K0OV
