[ARDF] Fun and Frustration

We had 3 or 4 more full course trainings after august 3rd, I just did
not update site with maps and results, I will try to do the better job
in the future. In order to build local Radio-O club you need to have a
few core members to keep it alive. It is impossible to expend for one
person.

Technical difficulties are one of the reasons it is not so easy to
expand. To build good club you need to have good number of receivers
as you should not expect newcomers to spend $200-$400 for new set.
Plus transmitters. Microtransmitters I have will do a good job and
they are inexpensive. Expanding cost money. I personally invested
about $5,000 into equipment and its paid off with new strong w21 and
m21 and m40 athelets, which we do not have alot.

But without such investments it is impossible to promote our sport.

I always was saying that we need to find sponsors at least for US team
to go to WC. I do not have authority to write the letters on behalf of
ARRL which do not help us. Bottom line - our sport not like
orienteering requires to invest more money upfront or it will fail.

And it takes a will from one of us to spend a lot of time away from
family to promote it. Do you want a more members? Go out and promote it.

Nobody mentioned Cincinati here but they also have a good results and
holding regular trainings.

Invest more of your time and you will see results.

73!
