Right - so I want to print maps that have ONLY the start control, the finish
control, and the exclusion zone circles on them.

If I create a course with just the start and finish controls, it will print
those controls without the F1 and S1 labels, BUT, it will draw a straight
connection line between the two. If I create a course with just one or the
other control in it, the control defined in the course will be printed
without a label, but it won't print the other control at all. If I create
two separate courses, one with just the start and one with just the finish,
if I print it with the <All courses> selection, I get the S1 and F1 labels.
If I select both courses in the print dialogue instead, I get two maps
out, one with just the start and one with just the finish.

The best I can do is creating a course with both start and finish and
under course options selecting a "Distance from circle to connection
line" to something larger than the distance between the start and finish
controls on the map (it can go as high as 50mm.) This avoids drawing the
connection line, but it doesn't avoid having the start triangle tilt in
the way it would if there were a connection line - which in this particular
map orients it in a way that makes it harder to see against the terrain
features.

Really, though, there seems to be no way to do what I want in course
setting mode. Which is just bizarre.

I'm not sure I can do that on this map in the demo version of OCAD 8.
