William B. Umstead State Park will be the site of North Carolina's next
radio direction finding practice. But you MUST RSVP if you plan to attend!

An 80-meter band practice hunt will be held Sunday May 1, 2005. If there is
sufficient interest, a 2-meter band practice hunt will be held the previous
day, Saturday April 30, 2005.

Courses will adhere closely to Region 2 ARDF rules. Transmitters on 80
meters will operate using CW mode. Transmitters on 2 meters will operate
with tone-modulated AM.

The Sunday event is being held in cooperation with the Backwoods
Orienteering Klub of Raleigh, NC. The BOK participation fee is $5 (includes
map and compass if needed). Extra maps are $2.

You are encouraged to bring any hand-held transmitter hunting gear you have.
If you don't have any, a limited supply of transmitter hunting gear will be
available for loan. You must reserve the gear ahead of time.

Start times are somewhat flexible, and will be adjusted if necessary to
accommodate out-of-town visitors. The venue is located adjacent to RDU
International Airport. Communicate your travel plans with your RSVP. Courses
will close at 3 PM.

All ages are welcome, but young children must be accompanied by an adult at
all times.

More details and maps to the start point will be posted at
