After breakfast Bruce, Bryan, Marvin and I headed off on a tram trip to
the Technical Museum just out of town. We spent a little over 2 hours
there in the end. Of particular interest were the clocks, many
vehicles, musical instruments, radio, television, (big) motors and the
hands on area. On the way home we stopped at a market and purchased
some fruit for lunch (yes Mum, its true). The remainder of the
afternoon was taken up with registration, Internet and socialising. I
learnt that Karol Fuchik (my nemesis) won both (M21) races of the Czech
Championships held about a week ago, I cant get away from him, there
is a big mug shot on posters that are plastered everywhere. The
official website indicates that realtime results will be available
online, also that the awards ceremony will be streamed live. I caught a
glance of Lylia (competing for Ukraine) but didnt get a chance to say
hello. Later in the afternoon Bryan and I joined Charles, Nadia and Jay
(H) of the US team for a 7km run in a nearby park on the side of a hill
(did I mention this area has many hills.) At dinner we sat with Harley,
Karla, Gyuri, Casaba, Dennis and also Jay Hs family. We also greeted
Stephan (German) and many other friends. Ive finally decided to pop a
blister on the back of my heal that has been bugging me for 4-5 days.
It made walking very uncomfortable, and I dont think I could run in O
shoes with it. The next 36 hours will prove if this was a good idea.
Karla lent me some antiseptic which I applied, on returning it I walked
in on their strategy meeting, I was swiftly ushered out as papers were
hidden, a reminder of just how serious this is. I do feel kinda chuffed
though, the dream team, seeing me, as competition
I'll attempt to ftp some more photos soon.
