That used to switch in a parasitic reflector that was part of my 160 meter
antenna system.  The driven element is a gamma matched tower as a vertical.

It actually worked pretty well - added a couple of db and had 10-15 db of
front-to-back.

I have since gone to phased verticals - with two gamma matched towers 
1/4 wave apart.  The little box to to the right of the TR4C with the
rotary swtich controls that.
