For those of you who would like to do a Field Day operation NOW, instead =
of waiting until next June, I suggest the California QSO Party October =
5-6th, sponsored by the Northern California Contest Club.
This is not the same dinky contest you may remember from the 60s and =
70s. It's become a very big deal, with the top guns making well over =
2,500 QSOs in 24 hours, and a lot of activity from all over the U.S. =
(and even some in Europe).
Now, as for the Field Day aspect, we have "County Expeditions" and =
mobiles, either single-op or multi-op, making treks to rare counties to =
ensure that we get all 58 counties on the air during CQP weekend. It's =
my job to make sure they're all covered. You can see how I'm doing by =
monitoring http://www.cqp.org/Counties-Plan-2002.html daily. Right now, =
there's are still many counties "up for grabs."
There are lots of prizes too, for those both in AND out of state. All =
you have to do is come in the top 20, and you receive a free bottle of =
red wine, personalized with your callsign and score! Really!
Anyone game? Check out the web site, and let me know.
73,
Bob, N6TV (ex-WA6TLV)
2002 CQP County Coordinator
