Happens to me all the time.  Sometimes I don't actually have a Weller
soldering gun tip along, so I substitute a 6" piece of #12 wire.

Here's one I remember - We were in a backyard somewhere (don't
remember
where), working on an antenna when one of the guys went to use his
Weller
soldering gun and found that the element had broken.  You reached into
your
pocket and pulled out an unused one that you <happen> to have with
you.

Bill Guimont, who was one of our Field Day participants, had
been W6GP while still in California and got the call W7KW
when he moved to AZ.  I visited him several times out there
to help him build up his antennas.  He put up 4 170 foot
towers (AB105) with big yagis on them.  It made a great QST
cover photo when he used hot air balloons in lieu of cranes
to hoist the yagis to the top of the towers.  Bill passed away
more than a decade ago.

I last saw Ted Gillett at the Visalia DX convention a few
years ago.  He was getting ready to take down the towers
at his QTH in Panorama City and planning to move in with
his new girl friend in Lake Elsinore.  I told him I'd like to buy
the 20 T-15 sections, but he didn't contact me about them --
I believe that KJ6Y might have quickly resold them.  Ted
passed away about 3 years ago.  He was at the top of the
DXCC honor roll.
