VASCM: ISO Experience with EZ-FLO for fertigation

Hi Lucy,
The EZ-FLO injectors are designed for ver small quantities of fertilizer
for small vineyards; they are really meant for gardens and lawns.
Nevertheless we actually have one for a tiny ornamental vineyard that has
maybe 30 plants.

For all other applications we use metered injector pumps that are powered
by the water flow of the irrigation system. These pumps used to be fairly
expensive and if you buy the fancy brand (Dosatron) you’re looking at a
couple hundred dollars but I found the off brand versions from Amazon and
other places work very well. They may not meter the fertilizer as exactly
as the expensive ones, but I pre measure the amount of fertilizer anyway
and let it run until it’s all gone.
Only downside with these systems is that you need liquid fertilizer or
dissolve the fertilizer you have.
Side note: I also tried the Venturi injectors; they are dirt cheap and work
ok-ish if the flow rate of the irrigation system is just right, but I found
them too much of a hassle and too unreliable.

Best regards,

Jonathan M Goodling M.S.
