Dear Colleagues,

Fernwood Cellars and House Family Vineyards invite you to a 
little machine demo in *Saratoga on Monday, May 23rd at 10 am*.

We are going to try the *Rinieri BioDynamic* with a mechanical roller 
hoe and hydraulic suckering/weeding head. The machine will run on a 
crawler tractor, which are so much more common in the SC AVA rather than 
conventional wheel tractors you usually see in machine demos.

Furthermore we will show some other machines we have been successfully 
using in our steep vineyards.

We recently added the *BCS two wheel tractor* to our equipment. This 
machine has proven to be useful for our smaller vineyards and with some 
modifications can tackle even steep hills

Another tool we are using is a mini *power harrow tiller head* that 
attaches to standard weed whackers. It is great for breaking up soil and 
weeding around vines where bigger tractor based weeders cannot be used.

Other equipment we will show is the Stihl mist blower, the Jacto battery 
backpack sprayer, the Mantis rototiller for in line weeding, fertilizer 
spreader, and a DIY herbicide banding sprayer.

We are not looking to sell any equipment, but to share what works well 
for us, and to spark discussions about how to better farm and mechanise.

We want to explore the option of co-owning or sharing equipment that may 
already exist to multiply our options and give us a broader spectrum of 
tools in an ever more challenging reality of increasing labor and fuel 
costs, difficult climate and changing markets.
