VASCM: Wildfire Preparedness Resources for Winegrowers, Grants and Online Programs

Hello, everyone:

As wildfire season is upon us (and we hope we get through it unaffected, 
please), the Wine Institute, CAWG and California Sustainable Winegrowing 
Alliance (CSWA) are making available resources addressing wildfire 
preparedness and exposure for vineyards and wineries:

*** The Wine Institute*has a list of wildfire resources available to 
non-members as well as members, including workplace health & safety 
guidelines during wildfires, insurance coverage, regulatory issues, 
charitable relief resources, and more. As well, there is more 
information available to Wine Institute members. Also available is a 
list of labs for smoke exposure testing. You can find all this

** The *California Sustainable Winegrowing Alliance* has available (see 
attached) *A Winegrowers Guide to Preparing for Wildfires*.

*** Emergency Relief Program. The U.S. Department of Agriculture 
(USDA)*has made $6 billion available for commodity and specialty crop 
producers — including winegrape growers — who suffered financial losses 
as a result of natural disasters including wildfires that occurred in 
2020 and 2021 through the Emergency Relief Program. The deadline to 
apply is July 22, 2022..

** Wine Institute, CSWA and CAWG hosted *Wildfire Preparedness Seminars 
*for vineyards and wineries online last year and this year. You can view

YouTube. Speakers for this program include Rich Casale, Consultant with 
the NRCS, and Tom Knecht, Pre-Fire Division Chief, CAL FIRE. You can see

Wine Institute has updated its online list of laboratories testing for 
smoke exposure in winegrapes
