Hello, everyone:

Below is the Zoom link to the recording of our last meeting on *Carbon
Capture and Assessments of Healthy Soils in Vineyards of the Santa Cruz
Mountains*. Our speaker was Christopher Potter, Ph.D., CASA Systems in
Los Gatos.  Chris advises small farmers and ranchers on how to reduce or
avoid greenhouse gas emissions and store more carbon in agricultural
lands, and collects field data on the impacts of compost and cover crops
on soil health.

He is also available to help submit applications to *Santa Clara
County's Agricultural Resilience Incentive (ARI) Grant Program * for up
to $30,000 in grant funding for compost and mulch application, plus 25
other pre-approved practices that improve soil health. *The deadline to
submit is the end of this week, May 1*.  You can find the full
announcement at www.sccgov.org/sites/dpd/Programs/Pages/ARI.aspx
<https://www.sccgov.org/sites/dpd/Programs/Pages/ARI.aspx> . I will
include Chris' contact info below. Healthy agricultural soils help to
hit the brakes on climate change by pulling carbon out of the air. The
County of Santa Clara will compensate farmers and ranchers for providing
this public service through the ARI grant program:

  * *Simple 2-page application form*

  * *Choose between27 pre-approved practices, including: composting,
    hedgerows, cover crop, etc.

  * *Reverse auction: name your own price*
  * *Funding is upfront, not a reimbursement*
  * *No acreage minimum or maximum*
  * *Free technical assistance
    *

The NRCS also provides funding through its Environment Quality Incentive
Program (EQIP) and Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) to improve
soil, water and habitat quality. For more info, see the link here
