*Adapting Crop Levels to Market Demands*

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Grape Growers,

If you only have a buyer so far for say half of your grapes due to the
market challenges of 2020, divide your vineyard into 2 sections. For the
section that will be sold for sure, maintain it as usual to the
standards of your buyer. Maintaining that relationship is critical!

For the rest of your vineyard that is currently NOT under contract, you
may wish to consider a plan B management strategy to reduce costs while
still maintaining the fruit for a potential buyer at harvest time. The
main ways to reduce costs while still maintaining an acceptable quality
level for the "B" section of your vineyard are by reducing spray costs
and by reducing the number of passes through the vineyard. Options could
include:

*>* Quicker, less exact shoot thinning.
*>* Less precise shoot positioning.
*>* Not dropping fruit at early fruit set (waiting for lag phase) to
save on labor.
*>* Occasionally skipping a spray if conditions allow.
*>* Using less expensive, generic spray products.
