VASCM: Weed Slayer Quarantined for Organic Violation - regulatory action in CA

Hello, everyone:

The CDFA has implemented a statewide quarantine order for Part B of the 
2-part Weed Slayer system, Agro Gold WS, sold as an organic herbicide, 
as it has been found to contain synthetic herbicides, Diquat and 
Glyphosate. This is in violation of State and National organic 
certification programs. See the attached regulatory notice from the CDFA 
for details. This is disappointing to say the least, as early last year 
we held a meeting with the area distributor for Weed Slayer and a number 
of our members have been using it as what we found to be an effective 
alternative to glyphosate, or so we thought.

Weed Slayer cannot currently be sold in the State of California, and it 
is a violation to distribute or move any quarantined product without 
obtaining prior approval from the CDFA. Apparently an investigation is 
underway.
