Hi, everyone:

For those finished with harvest I am sure you are breathing a sigh of
relief. Some of us are still at it. But no matter when harvest is
finished for you, here is a valuable *webinar on Post Harvest Vineyard
Priorities *from Virtual Viticulture Academy - and it's FREE!  This
Wednesday the 16th, 5-6:30pm our time (7pm CST). Note the link below to
register in advance.

And then, when we can we will schedule a meeting so we can get together
in person. And, keep an eye out for more information on our *Harvest
Dinner on Nov. 23 at Cabrillo's Sesnon House* - earlier than usual this
year due to changes in the catering schedule. Save the Date! It's a good
opportunity to get together to share notes about this interesting
vintage year.

Cheers,

Mary Lindsay

*Does Your Vineyard Need Compost?*
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fall is the optimal time for adding compost to your vineyard.  But,
before you spend the time and expense, make sure your vineyard is likely
to benefit from a compost addition this season with our quick cheat
sheet below.

*Will Compost **Benefit** Your Vineyard*

*Likely Yes*

  * Plant tissue analysis (leaf or petiole) shows the need for Nitrogen
    (N) and other macro-nutrients.
  * Areas in the vineyard show low vigor, drought stress, and/or leaf
    yellowing.
  * Areas in the vineyard have compacted soil.

*Probably Not*

  * Grapevines have high vigor, and the canopy is already divided.
  * Soil is high in organic matter (>4%).
  * Leaf or Petiole analysis shows sufficient Nitrogen (N) and only one
    or two limiting nutrients.
