Hi Everyone,
I just returned from a Community Outreach Meeting for Santa Clara County
Planning Commission. They are quickly creating some Zoning Amendments
regarding Commercial uses in Rural Districts. These would include
properties zoned for Agricultural, Rural Ranch (RR), Hillside (HS), etc.
zoned parcels. They are trying to make the rules more consistent across all
the uses and rural base zoning districts.
This seems to be on an accelerated timeline due to a proposed Religious
Institution project in San Jose. The county planning department plans to
to create these new amendments in the next month, and push through
approvals in the April time-frame.
Why does this matter? Although Santa Clara County enacted new winery
regulations a few years ago, there appears to have been some push back from
other institutions that feel that wineries may have gotten a better deal on
hosting events, etc. The planning department has not decided on what
direction they will suggest (whether to let these regulations stand, or
adjust them to make them more "equitable" to other institutions).
At this meeting, they want to get input from the Winery Community:
