A Reminder That Our Next VASCM Meeting is Today!
Post Harvest Vineyard Maintenance, with a focus on Vine Nutrition
Plus: Salts Concentration in the Vineyard

*Katarina Flores, Certified Crop Advisor and PCA with Simplot 
<www.simplot.com>in Salinas and Prudy Foxx, Foxx Viticulture will talk 
about post-harvest maintenance practices, with some new thoughts on vine 
nutrition and amendments. As well, Katarina will talk about salts 
concentration affecting vineyards, including: signs of salts 
concentration; how to determine whether your irrigation water is 
contributing salts; and how to solve the problem. Denis Hoey of Odonata 
Wines will introduce the topic. Denis sources Falcon Hill's Pinot Noir 
and has implemented a number of changes in the vineyard over the past 
few years. He and Jim Adkisson, grower and owner of Falcon Hill will 
show us around the vineyard.

Before joining Simplot Katarina worked for Vineyard Professional 
Services in Paso Robles, and in the vineyards at E&J Gallo.

Please come prepared for wet weather, as we will be out in the vineyard. 
In the event that rain makes it impractical to be outdoors, we will take 
cover. Please bring your own (folding) chair in case you want to use it. 
And also, please bring your own wineglass (although we will have extra) 
- and a bottle of wine to share.

Parking:  Parking is limited, so try to carpool if you can. Someone will 
be there to guide you to park, and watch for signs.

/Please note: Be sure to come in from Branciforte Dr. Using GPS to this 
address can take you in the back way where there is no access. To use 
GPS, enter //in 3229 Branciforte Dr., which will bring you to the bottom 
of Falcon Hill, and then come up the road to 220 Falcon Hill. Or follow 
the directions below./

 From Hwy. 1 (from Soquel):
- Take the Morrissey St. exit and continue onto Rooney (on the north 
side of Hwy. 1)
- In less than 1 mile make a left onto Goss, and then right onto 
Branciforte Dr. and head north on Branciforte for 3 miles.
- Pass Granite Creek Rd. and make a left on Falcon Hill

 From Hwy. 17:
- Take the Vine Hill exit (there is a big sign there for Clare's Retreat)
- Follow Vine Hill 2.3 miles to the end where it intersects Branciforte Dr.
- Bear right onto Branciforte Dr. and drive 2.2 miles; make a right onto 
Falcon Hill
