**
*Join us for an amazing Pinot Noir Technical Session with keynote
speaker Ken Burnap, founder of Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard.
Hear Ken's first-hand account of how jagged borders traversing 3
counties were designated to become the Santa Cruz Mountains American
Viticultural Appellation. Federally recognized in 1981, the Santa Cruz
Mountains was **the first AVA to be defined by geophysical and climatic
factors. *
*
*
*The appellation encompasses the Santa Cruz Mountain range, from Half
Moon Bay in the north to Mount Madonna in the south, and is defined
primarily by elevation - down to 800 feet in the east (the valley side)
and 400 feet in the west (the coastal side). Some ridgetop vineyards are
as high as 2700 feet.

*The technical tasting will feature wines produced from Santa Cruz
Mountains vineyards that grow fruit for a variety of different
winemakers. Taste from four major vineyards in SCM: Beauregard
Vineyards; Lester Family Vineyards; Muns Vineyard; Regan Vineyard. Each
panel will showcase premium winemakers producing wine from these
vineyards, and will demonstrate how one site can express itself. Explore
how the terroir of the site and the craft of the winemaking influence
your favorite wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains! *
