will not be provided); and wineglasses are at a minimum so it is
recommended that you bring your own.**

The next meeting of the Viticulture Assn. of the Santa Cruz Mountains
(the first of 2015) is

*The program: Soil Physical and Chemical Properties for Vineyard Design
and Vine Nutritional Management*
Our guest speaker: Paul Anamosa, Ph.D., Vineyard Soil Technologies in
Napa. Paul will talk about soil types, soil health, soil water retention
- and the relationship to vine health. And, David Goldfarb will talk
about the vineyard practices at Clos de la Tech.
About Paul Anamosa: Paul specializes in soil analysis, land evaluation
for winegrape production, and vine nutritional disorders. He estimates
that he has evaluated over 18,000 soil pits and interpreted the data
from over 30,000 soil and grape leaf tissue samples in his 14 years
working in California viticulture. He is familiar with the Santa Cruz
Mountains and has consulted with vineyards in our region, including Clos

As usual, please bring a bottle of wine to share during our social hour
following the presentation.

diagnosis and treatment (date TBD)

Directions to the vineyards at Clos de la Tech /(you might want to bring
these directions with you)/:
From the south and Hwy. 9: head north on Skyline for 10 miles. You will see
signs for the quarry, for Yerba Buena Nursery, and for Clos de la Tech.
Make a
LEFT on Rapley Ranch Road, across from Thomas Fogarty Winery. Rapley Ranch
is a dirt road about 3 miles long. Continue past the quarry, make a left
into the first
drive (there are signs for Clos de la Tech), and bear to the right to
get to the vineyards. Follow the signs.
From Hwy. 92, go left on Skyline and it is 18 miles to the turnoff onto
Rapley
Ranch Road on your right.
From Hwy. 84, go left on Skyline and to Rapley Ranch Road on your right.
Note: you can Google directions to Thomas Fogarty Winery and Rapley
Ranch Road is across the street.
Then follow the signs to the winery and vineyards.
