VASCM: Drought Article in Wines & Vines Includes the SCM; and Meeting Being Planned

The lack of rain and continuing warm weather is probably uppermost in 
our minds. A couple of things concerning this:

Articles are appearing about the drought and its impact on our 
vineyards, including one in Wines & Vines on Tuesday that you can find 
here

in which Mary comments about the Santa Cruz Mts. This article provides a 
pretty good overview of the situation  - even though it is entitled 
'Central Coast Vineyards Cope With Drought, and the SCM is not in the 
Central Coast AVA. Still, it is a good opportunity to be included. You

We are planning a meeting in the next month or so about drought-related 
issues in the vineyard: smart water management (if you have it);floor 
management issues as a result of the drought conditions (lack of cover 
crop, dust mitigation, soil moisture retention); and canopy and crop 
management under the circumstances. Details will be forthcoming soon, as 
soon as we can pin down the date.
