VASCM: Irrigation system evaluations - grant reduces cost from $2000 to $500 in Santa Cruz Co.

For those of you irrigating in Santa Cruz County, cost-share grants are 
available for irrigation system evaluations. This program is sponsored 
by the Central Coast Agricultural Water Quality Coalition in conjunction 
with the NRCS. The program expires at the end of December. Please see 
the attached flier or the text reproduced below for more information and 
who to contact if you are interested.

**Irrigation system efficiency evaluations available to Santa Cruz 
County Growers*

Irrigation system efficiency evaluations are currently available to 
growers in Santa Cruz County through a Natural Resources Conservation 
Service (NRCS) grant. The value of each evaluation is about $2,000 but 
the cost to the grower is just $500. A sliding scale or discounts for 
multiple evaluations will be considered.

Irrigation system efficiency evaluations are confidential and include:

-  an assessment of system-wide pressure levels, water leaks, and the 
uniformity with which water is distributed;
-  a confidential report summarizing the results and recommendations for 
system improvements is provided to and discussed with the grower; and
-  if interested, assistance applying for NRCS financial incentive 
programs to help with the costs of making upgrades.

This program will expire December 31, 2013, and a limited number of 
evaluations are available.
