VASCM: Sentinel's Ag Almanac: Story on Sustainability in our Vineyards

Hi, everyone:

Earlier this year the Santa Cruz Sentinel announced that it was
publishing an Ag Almanac (in March), a special supplement to the paper -
and none of the stories they planned had anything to do with our local
vineyards. Can you imagine! What an omission!

We contacted the paper and suggested a story about our local vineyards,
but the content had already been decided and it was too late. To make up
for the lack, the VASCM Board decided to run an ad in this supplement,
in order to assure that winegrape growing had a presence as an important
local agricultural component in this issue. You can see a copy of the ad
below.

Apparently this first Ag issue was so successful (assuming in terms of
interest and advertising) that the Sentinel announced that it was going
to do another one. And this time they wanted to include the story on our
winegrape growing that we had suggested earlier. This second supplement
has just come out, and it includes the vineyard story.

You can see the story, which focuses on sustainable practices in our
vineyards, at
http://www.santacruzlive.com/books/052113agalmanac/book.html#p=1 .
Justine daCosta did a pretty good job in two short pages in providing a
general overview, referring to Storrs, Silver Mountain, and Alfaro as
examples. So it ends up we had good visibility for our vineyards in both
ag issues.

It is nice to see the recognition and visibility for what we do.
