I have an organic solution for those ground hives that seem to appear in the vine rows every harvest season.
Mark the hole proximity with a traffic cone
I mix a 5 gal (not less) slurry of fine grain dirt and water to the consistency of "kefir" or running milkshake. (No rocks)
Then at 10pm with flaslights and shovel you aproach the hive and immediatly and continuosly but slowly pour all the slurry into the hive... Keep pouring until the hole wont take more. Then make a pile of loose dirt with the shovel then more wet mud... Layer cake dry over wet until a mound is formed.
That kills em. I have even seen them partially escspe from a side gopher hole so be careful.
No chemical method.

I found a spray can from "W-H-Y" that contains organic oils from herbs and flowers. How do I get close enough to spray a hole in the ground? thanks, greg piszczatowski, Sunset Lane Vineyard.
