VASCM: Next Meeting Nov. 15: Post Harvest Powwow; SC Mts. History with Michael Holland

Hello everyone:

We hope you have had (might still be having) a healthy and happy harvest 
this year. Our next meeting is Thursday, November 15, 3:00pm at Santa 
Cruz Mountain Vineyard's winery facilities in Santa Cruz, with host Jeff 
Emery (address & directions below).

We haven't gotten together as a group in awhile, so we thought this 
would be a good opportunity to share our harvest experiences this year. 
And, we have a special guest: Jeff has arranged for Michael Holland to 
talk about the history of the Santa Cruz Mountains wine region. Michael 
did his thesis for UCSC on this subject and published it as a book, 
"Late Harvest".

The topics: Post-harvest wrap-up, and History of the Santa Cruz 
Mountains Wine Region
Speaker: Michael Holland, historian
Where:  Santa Cruz Mountain Vineyard -- the winery at 334-A Ingalls St., 
Santa Cruz
     (on the westside, near Kelly's Bakery and New Leaf grocery)

As usual, please bring a bottle of wine to share. It would be helpful to 
bring your own wineglass. /Dress warmly for the cellar./

 From the Hwy. 17 and Hwy. 1 interchange in Santa Cruz:
- continue on Hwy. 1 No. (towards Half Moon Bay)
- right at the light onto Mission St. (continuing towards Half Moon Bay 
and past UCSC)
- at about 1.5 miles turn left onto Swift St.
- cross the railroad tracks and turn left onto Ingalls
- parking is available in the lot immediately to your left. you'll see 
Kelly's Bakery, Santa Cruz Brewery, and several wineries including Santa 
Cruz Mountain Vineyard.
