VASCM: SCM/CC appellations

John, the proposal as written is one-sided, describing a couple of
advantages but not acknowledging any disadvantages. Clearly there are
disadvantages because the SCM appellation was originally setup as distinct
from Central Coast. Furthermore, the responses on our reflectors the past
few days have been 100% negative, though without providing any clear
rationale.

If you want this issue to be constructively fleshed out, then your working
group of 3-4 people needs to be composed of both proponents and detractors
so that an objective set of advantages and disadvantages will result. It
would be very valuable for our appellation to have a rational and
professional position on this issue, especially if nothing changes and we
continue as a sub-AVA under "California".

Regards,
Ed
