A reminder: The next meeting of the Viticulture Assn. will be tomorrow,
Thursday, July 1 starting at 2:00pm at Muns Vineyard (directions below),
with the following program:

*Pest Management and Biopesticides. *Speakers: Jesse Rosales of Marrone
BioInnovations, and Larry Bettiga, Farm Advisor for UC Davis Cooperative
Extension.

- Jesse Rosales will speak about the relatively new and growing use
of biopesticides, which are naturally occurring substances. They are in
demand for their value in IPM programs to enhance yields and quality
along with their low impact on the environment. He will talk about what
they are, the benefits and barriers, application, and use for disease
and weed control. Marrone BioInnovations produces Regalia and
GreenMatch. You can see more information on their website at
http://marronebioinnovations.com/ (PCA, CCA and Applicator credits are
available through an online course on the Marrone website. Come to the
meeting and get an introduction to the course, then take the test and
get the credits on the website at
http://marronebioinnovations.com/biopesticides/ .)

- Larry Bettiga, Farm Advisor for UC Davis Cooperative Extension, will
bring us up to date on vineyard pests, specifically the spread and
status of the LBAM and European Grapevine Moth.

As well, we will conduct elections for this year's Board of Directors.
The current Board is up for re-election and are willing to continue in
their positions, and additional nominations will be taken from the
floor. All interested parties are welcome to run.

*We could use extra chairs, so please bring a chair!* And, as usual,
please bring a bottle of wine to share.
Also, we will be in the vineyard (in the shade under some trees), so
please wear appropriate vineyard shoes, and you might want a hat.

Summer is finally here! The weather is beautiful. We hope flowering in
your vineyard is progressing nicely.

Directions to Muns Vineyard, 25600 Loma Prieta Ave. (above Summit Road):

 From Hwy. 17:

1.Head southeast on Summit Rd. (If you have come from Los Gatos, make a
right on the off-ramp and come back over the highway, then left onto
Summit Rd. If you have come from Santa Cruz, exit onto Summit Rd and
continue right.)
2. Follow Summit Rd. for 3.3 miles. Start slowing when you see the
Burrell School Winery (on the right), and just past Burrell School
3.. Make a left onto Loma Prieta Ave.
4. Follow Loma Prieta Ave 3.2 miles, up the hill. You will drive through
pear orchards, and the last house you will see is at an s-curve in the
road that closely hugs the house and garden here. Continue up the hill -
the road narrows and opens out to see the view to Monterey. Drive slowly
and carefully.
5. At the 3.2 mile mark, the road will split. You want to continue
straight ahead, up the hill (up the 'left' fork of the split). This is
our private road, and you will see a sign saying 'Private Road'. The
split to the right is the public road, and at this point it flattens
out. You want to be sure to continue to go uphill (bearing left) here.
6. Drive .2 miles. The road will split again, and you will see our
address sign in front of you. Turn right at this split, and you will be
on our gravel drive. The road will flatten out at this point, and then
start uphill again. Continue on to and through the gate. You will see
parking along the drive just inside the gate.

 From Hwy. 1:
1. Exit the Bay/Porter St. exit in Soquel
2. Come up the Old San Jose-Soquel Rd. to Summit Rd.
3. Left on Summit Rd., and right past the Summit Market make a right on
Loma Prieta Ave. (if you pass Burrell School you have gone too far)
