Forwarding for Judy Schultze, Windy Oaks:
Hello,
We are Santa Cruz Mountains residents involved in the growing,
production and promotion of the appellation's wine, and we are writing
to invite you to an event that we think you will find of interest for
your business. We are sending out this email to all members of the
Santa Cruz Mountains Winegrowers Association and the Viticulture
Association of the Santa Cruz Mountains.
We are sure most of you have noticed the old Redman House on Highway 1
as you are traveling south out of Watsonville. The 'Save the Redman
House' sign has adorned the dilapidated old structure for several years,
but finally, it has a future. And we invite you to be a part of it.
The House is being completely renovated and will serve as a gateway and
center for Santa Cruz Mountains winegrowers, farmers, and the
agricultural community in general. (For complete details on The Redman
Foundation, link to their website, www.redmanhouse.com)
We are proposing the formation of a group, named The Wine Cellar Group,
which would be incorporated as a Close Corporation with a maximum of 35
equal participants. The Group's mission would be to promote the
appreciation and sale of Santa Cruz Mountains wine. The Group would
sell wine in the cellar of the renovated Redman House on Highway 1. The
majority of participants would be winery owners. Only those wines of
the participants, and only wines made from grapes grown in the Santa
Cruz Mountains appellation would be available for sale.
Further, due to the way we are thinking of structuring this venture, the
Cellar would not count as a 'second site' for those of you who already
have a remote site.
Upon completion of the House, The Wine Cellar Group will lease the 2,500
square foot cellar, tentatively scheduled for completion before this
winter; occupancy will tentatively be in 2008. There will be an
adjoining courtyard (~8,000 square feet) also available to The Group for
events, including weddings, tour groups and special corporate functions
and civic activities. A gift shop is envisioned for the sale of related
accessory products, and there will be a caterer's kitchen for special
events.
The promotional prospects of this unique landmark are unlimited.
To learn more about this proposed venture, we invite you to an
introductory session with a brief presentation of our vision, with
plenty of time for questions that you have regarding this venture.
Following this meeting, we invite you to Sunset at the Redman House,
organized by the Redman Foundation Board of Directors, as a social and
informational community gathering. Gourmet appetizers, prepared by
Monterey Bay Caterers, and local wines will be served.
