The Viticulture Assn. has been working with the Sustainability Alliance
to bring to the Santa Cruz Mountains a workshop on energy efficiency
that is starting to be offered elsewhere in the state. Please note that
this is for both vineyards and wineries. The agenda has not been
finalized yet and will be forthcoming soon, but I want to forward this
to you now to afford you every opportunity to participate. There will
be a breakout session for vineyards, and another for wineries. Space in
this workshop is going to be limited, and this workshop is going to be
open to other regions, so an RSVP is required to assure you a space.
Please RSVP by replying to this message to secure your spot, and please
indicate which breakout session you want - for vineyard or winery.

The breakout session for vineyards will probably address pump
efficiency, biodiesel use with farm equipment, as well as other
renewable energy solutions (based on workshops at other locations).

The breakout session for wineries will probably address energy retrofit
solutions for winery operations.

Please RSVP to attend this workshop. This is on a first come, first
served basis.

Regards,
Mary Lindsay

The workshop is designed for winery Facility Managers, Operations
    Managers and Vineyard Managers
although other employees are also welcome to attend.

    The workshop will cover:
    · Energy evaluation and planning strategies
    · Best practices for energy management in vineyards and wineries
    · Information on renewable energy opportunities
    · Update on PG&E programs including: free winery energy audits,

scores in the energy efficiency chapter of the
    Code of Sustainable Winegrowing Workbook.

The energy workshops are free of charge to participants and are
    funded through PG&E's energy
efficiency programs under the auspices of the California Public
    Utilities Commission.

The workshops are being held in response to findings in the
California wine community's 2004 Sustainability Report, which
indicated that energy use was an area that offered wineries and
vineyards opportunities for improvement for energy savings.

The energy workshops augment the self-assessment workshops and other
action plan workshops on topics such as integrated pest management,
ecosystem management, and air and water quality, hosted by CSWA as
part of the California wine community's Sustainable Winegrowing
Program. Please visit www.sustainablewinegrowing.org for a workshop
calendar, registration details and further information.
