Viticulture Assn: Welcome to VASCM Exchange

  Welcome to the new "Grapes Into Wine" (Buy/Sell) Exchange, sponsored 
by the Viticulture Assn. of the Santa Cruz Mountains.  You will shortly 
receive another email message with the Subject, "Welcome to the 'VASCM' 
Mailing List".  This will be your first message from the email system 
(sent from vascm-request at kkn.net).  I am sending this message to you now 
as initial notification so you know what the 'VASCM Mailing List' 
message is all about. Any message you receive in the future from kkn.net 
will be a message from the "Grapes Into Wine" Exchange.  We already have 
a couple of buy/sell notices we will be sending you.

We have created this email system as an easy and efficient mechanism to 
directly connect winemakers and growers for the purpose of buying and 
selling Santa Cruz Mt. appellation grapes.  A winemaker can send a 
message to the list saying, for example, "I'm looking for Chardonnay," 
and a grower can respond saying, "I have some available."  Or a grower 
can send a message saying, "I have Pinot available this year", and an 
interested winemaker can respond asking for more information. This is a 
simple email list, so it's easy to use.  You're already on it - there's 
no need to sign up anywhere.  

To send a message to the list, all you have to do is send it to 
vascm at kkn.net, and everyone on the list will receive it.  We'll explain 
more on how to use this list below.  

We also have a new Website at http://www.vascm.org (still under 
construction), and we will post all the Exchange communications on this 
site, so you can view all the buy/sell ads on the website, too.

You can also use this list to 'advertise' a broader range of vineyard or 
winemaking services and products available for sale.  The only members 
of this list are local winemakers and growers, or affiliated resources 
on the SCMWA or VASCM member lists.  Out of consideration for everyone 
on the list, it should only be used for communications directly related 
to local (Santa Cruz Mts.) grape growing and winemaking, and 
specifically for buying and selling grapes, products and services.

You are on this list either as a local winemaker or grower, or both. If 
you wish to be removed from the list, please send a reply message to the 
list master, or "mailman".  But we ask that you give it a chance for 
awhile to see how it might work for you.

This list is similar to a Yahoo! Group list, except that you don't have 
to sign up for it. You don't ever have to visit the list page if you 
don't want. But it is available to you if you want to change your 
subscription parameters. You will receive a message each month from the 
mailman as a reminder about using the system.  The message will come 
from mailman-owner at kkn.net .

We have set this up as a service to the local winemaking and viticulture 
community, and hope you find it of value.

HOW TO USE THIS LIST:

When you have a message to send to the list:  Address your message to 
VASCM at kkn.net .  Your message will automatically be sent to everyone on 
the list.  Your name will be listed as the Sender, just as it normally 
would.

When you want to reply to a specific sender of a particular message: 
 Reply as you would normally by using the "Reply" key.  

When you want to reply to everyone on the list:  Reply to the message by 
using the "Reply All" key.  When you use "Reply All" your message will 
go to everyone on the list.

When you want to send a message to the mailman (the list master):   Send 
a message to mailman-owner at kkn.net .
