[TexasARDF] Photos from 2006 USA ARDF Championships

     Jen (W5JEN) and I competed in the Sixth USA ARDF Championships held 
April 7-9, 2006, in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA.  We were the only 
competitors from Texas.  The competition was held in William B. Umstead 
State Park, right next to Raleigh-Durham International Airport.  I took 
home my first medal, a bronze in the two meter M21 competition, and Jen 
took home the gold in both the two meter and the eighty meter W21 categories.

     On Saturday, we were sharing the park with runners in a 100 mile race.
Most of the 100-milers ignored me.  One made some crack about me hunting 
for the mother ship, and another joked about "I'm not speeding officer, 
I swear!"  I think having a competition number on my chest probably helped 
keep people from bothering me too much.  Although many had quit by then,
the race had a 30 hour time limit, so there were still some out trying
to finish the 100 miles on Sunday morning, too, when it was barely in the 
40s.  There were a lot of people walking by then and none had the energy to 
crack jokes...
