[FQP] High School Active in FQP!

to the Group) about a High School in Gainesville that participated in the
Florida QSO Party.

Hi Chris,
We had four students doing CW and Phone. This was our first contest and
they had a BLAST! Me and one other staff member participated. Prior to the
contest, we held practice sessions using the N3FJP program. Our club
station is in the Fire/EMS academy, so it helps our students operate using
phonetics and talking on the microphone.

We were fortunate in getting a certificate from FCG for a Yaesu FTdx1200
that got us on the air two years back. It was won by Larry Bostik, K3LB,
but he gave the certificate to our club so we could get started. I will
attach some photos...We have 45 students in out club out of a small school
of only 250 students, 9-12 grade. One ironic item: two of our members are
the great grand kids of Oscar Hammarlund! How about that?!
