Soapbox:
Kris, N5KM did the first two hours on SSB, but then had to return his
rental car and head for FLL for his flight back to TX. At least that
took away some of the burden of the obligatory eight hours on phone!
But the phone rate was always so much better than CW that I spent more
hours there than planned. N1MM's internal DVK sent an occasional CQ,
but really was of little use. I realize we don't score the 1X1's, but
I'm fascinated by numbers. The totals that N1MM was reporting with
five minutes of FQP left caused me to shut down at that point. I didn't
have any problem with RTTY on 40M, although WSPR signals popped up
briefly at times and left. I avoided the mobile windows, but did enough
40M S&P to work my fellow six 1X1's and a few of the mobiles. Can't
work myself, but do I qualify for the sweep?? Experienced all of the
previously reported odd operating: two letter calls, CW that barely
resembled CW, nets starting up on my run freq, etc. But all in all, a
fun time!
