Ron,

If you mean by pushing it back a week actually is moving it ahead to 4/30/2010 - 5/01/2010 then yes I am for doing that as well.  Easter Holiday is the culmination of holy week with Easter Sunday on the 24th.  That weekend is an important weekend for any and all familes.  Let's move the following weekend.  The previous weekend to 4/23 would be MQP weekend.

The FQP dates for 2011 will fall on Easter weekend, April 23 - 24.

There has been some discussion about moving it back a week to the
weekend of April 30 - May 1.

This won't cause any conflicts with INQP, 7QP, or NEQP which are all a
week after the FQP, since they'll still be on the first "full" weekend
in May.

On the other hand, some of the contests that already share the weekend
with us, may also realize it's Easter weekend, and decide to push back a
week.

Any thoughts about moving the FQP back a week for 2011 to avoid Easter?
The next time this will come up is FQP 2038.

Ron

This is a good question and a good time to be asking it!

Personally, when I am interested in operating a contest I will first see it
'on the list' in the WA7BNM contest calendar. The next 'stop' is always the
contest website to check for the official dates and times. In other words, I
don't track contests by the 'week number of the month' per se. As an
out-of-stater, I only know FQP is 'in the spring, sometime around the end of
April'.

In my case, having the correct information posted 'way ahead of time' is
more important than adhering to the custom of which weekend it is on the
air. In addition, other big contests have been know to be shuffled to a
different date for similar reasons.

I also believe moving the date would be a courtesy to all the operators who
have family gatherings over the Easter weekend.

I'd prefer not to have FQP on Easter Weekend.? Moving it to the weekend later or earlier is fine with me.? Am already planning to participate again next year.? Glad I got to see the Gulf of Mexico / white sand beaches one last time before the oil spill.? No telling what we are going to see next year!

It's not where you stand, but rather the direction you're heading.
