Hello All,

Plans and work here are almost complete for the biggest FQP ever. I just added my route to the FQP site. With my wife Adela, KI4GGV as driver, I am going to attempt mobile SSB only this year, activating 43 counties along the way if all goes as planned. We will zig-zag up the western counties to just east of the capital on Saturday, and come back down through the central and eastern counties on Sunday. I'll be using the same basic route as W4SAA and KI4JKO and company (which they apparently "stole" from me last year while I was incapacitated in the hospital and walked away with the Mobile plus driver plaque.) ;>) (Just kidding, for those who don't know that Joe and David are good friends, or were until I made that comment! Dave is actually the expert map maker)

It looks as though several of us use the same basic route, so look out for the little red Ford Ranger with the big antenna.

The Texas Bugcatcher (hopefully not an owl catcher) will be primary on 40m with my old faithful Hustler on "20 and up" if anything else opens. Should I lose an antenna (through box sabotage, bird strikes, or scenic limbs ) either antenna is capable of all bands.

I have set up a table in the co-pilot seat to accommodate the computer and radio. The rig is an Icom 706 MK 2 G with the matching tuner and main unit mounted permanently behind the left seat in the stretch Ford Ranger.

I wish everyone the best of luck, and hope you are all starting to feel the excitement and are having as much fun as I.
