Please excuse the bandwidth....many of you know Tom Horton, K5IID.....he
hasn't been active lately...usually participates in the FQP....here is an
update.

Subject: My status...


In case you haven't heard from me in a while...here is what has been going
on
The first part of March, I got sick...and it just kept dragging on even with
antibiotics.
Finally on the 9th of April, the doc said if I didn't go to the hospital, I
was in big trouble...
so I did...My right foot was almost the size of a regulation football. I
could not put any weight on the ankle. I was a mess. 
 I spent 12 days in the hospital here in Hillsboro, and than they
transferred me to a hospital in Waco. After an MRI was done there it was
definate that the right leg would have to be amputated below the knee, so,
unfortunately, that was done this past Thursday.
 There was just no saving my foot, the entire thing was involved in one type
of disease or another! 
 So now it is to therapy and rehab for a while and after that hopefully I
can be fitted with a good prothesis and will be able to walk again.
 For any of you who are diabetic or have loved ones who are...PLEASE TAKE
NOTE!!!!!
 
 NEVER TAKE A STEP BAREFOOTED...
 CHECK YOUR FEET DAILY
 SEE A PODIATRIST REGULARLY
 NEVER TRY TO CUT YOUR OWN TOENAILS
 WEAR GOOD COMFORTABLE SHOES...DO NOT CRAMP YOUR FEET !
 YOUR TWO FEET WILL BE THE ONLY ONES YOU WILL EVER HAVE!
 TAKE CARE OF THEM !!!!!!!!!!
