This would seem to militate against Sept. 6, then....with a number of
members participating in NA Sprint and then not in CWO....  But to be clear,
were these back-to-back scheduled contests in 2013?

Below please find a simple analysis of the overlap in participation between
the SEP NA Sprint CW and The CW Open.  This is incomplete data and the
overlap between the two events can only increase.  

One worthwhile goal is to maximize this overlap in participation.  Having
the contests adjacent in time works against this goal.

Please forgive me in advance...we have some facts concerning the AUG-SEP
2014 calendar (i.e NA Sprint CW, first Sat night following first monday in
SEP) and we have several unknowns.  

The dates of the various related QSO parties are not yet cast and it would
be nice to know them.  In fact, the date of the 2014 CW Open will influence
their thinking.  Based on logs submitted in previous years and this year's
experience with CO, state QSO parties will have a measurable impact on us,
which we can quantify.

As stated in my earlier email, YODX is always planned for the last weekend
in AUG, but not in 2013, which suggests that the date for YODX 2014 is an
unknown.  Perhaps Bruce has YODX in the perpetual calendar as the last
weekend in AUG, and perhaps the YODX folks are thinking otherwise for 2014. 
Perhaps they'd be more than happy to move to 23 AUG if they have already
chosen 30 AUG.  As far as I know, we have not communicated with them and we
don't know the precise date of YODX 2014.  

In addition, and I tried to find it...we don't know the date of JA Ham Fair
2014.  This date impacts our thinking and ability to grow JA participation.

Regarding being adjacent to the NA Sprint CW, I will do a quick analysis on
that to see who operates in both.  Based on those facts, we might decide to
poll them.

I'd be happy to have a phone call etc to discuss/vote, but not before we
generate more facts concerning the 2014 calendar.
