[Cwo] CWO results are out

Alan,

One thing we should consider doing, I think, is maybe putting session 3 in before session 1. During the last two outings, people stopped doing session 3 after a couple of hours. It was pretty late on the east coast, for example. If it was made the first session, though, it would be a lot more attractive for the JAs and EUs, too because it keeps the whole thing confined to Saturday for them and it starts on Friday evening for NA players. We may even think about starting session 3 two hours earlier because it would keep the east coast guys on board.

As for which weekend, I would opt for keeping it on the first full or partial weekend in September.

Just my dos centavos,

Rob K6RB

Hi guys,

The results for the Sept CW OPEN contest are published here:
http://cwops.org/cwo2012-final.html

For next year we have a bit of a problem.
The first weekend in Sept 2013 is split between Aug and Sept .. Sept 1 is a Sunday.
There seems to be very little published activity on that weekend, so I suggest we go for that in 2013: Aug 31-Sept 1

I have not done any extensive research, but the BNM calendar looks like this:

ARRL 10 GHz and Up Contest 0600 local, Aug 17 to 2400 local, Aug 18
+ North American QSO Party, SSB 1800Z, Aug 17 to 0600Z, Aug 18
+ Run for the Bacon QRP Contest 0100Z-0300Z, Aug 19
      + Hawaii QSO Party 0700Z, Aug 24 to 2200Z, Aug 25
      + Ohio QSO Party 1600Z, Aug 24 to 0400Z, Aug 25
+ SARL HF CW Contest 1400Z-1600Z, Aug 25
      + SKCC Sprint 0000Z-0200Z, Aug 28
      + CWops Mini-CWT Test 1300Z, Aug 28 to 0400Z, Aug 29
      + SCC RTTY Championship 1200Z, Aug 31 to 1159Z, Sep 1
      + YO DX HF Contest 1200Z, Aug 31 to 1200Z, Sep 1

      September 2013
+ MI QRP Labor Day CW Sprint 2300Z, Sep 2 to 0300Z, Sep 3
+ All Asian DX Contest, Phone 0000Z, Sep 7 to 2400Z, Sep 8
      + Wake-Up! QRP Sprint 0600Z-0800Z, Sep 7
+ AGCW Straight Key Party 1300Z-1600Z, Sep 7
      + SKCC Weekend Sprintathon 0000Z-2359Z, Sep 8
+ North American Sprint, CW 0000Z-0400Z, Sep 8
      + DARC 10-Meter Digital Contest 1100Z-1700Z, Sep 8
+ Swiss HTC QRP Sprint 1300Z-1900Z, Sep 8
      + CWops Mini-CWT Test

Both weekends have problems:
I don't know how big the YO DX contest is, but I'd hate to cross blades with another EU contest. (Sept 1) However, it may be possible to "cross fertilize" by allowing YO DX QSOs in CWO. Their exchange is 599 + serial number.
I think the RTTY contest is significantly large (Sept 1). There seems no way to compromise there.

I do know how big the NA Sprint is here in NA (Sept 8). That may not be a problem for EU, but it would squeeze in between Sessions 2 and 3 .. and thus be a drag on both.

What do you think?
