To answer your first question:  CQWW CW is over Thanksgiving weekend - and
it's the most popular contest on the planet.

The (few) comments I've received from EU guys indicates the first weekend in
Sept is about as good as we can get. The main problems are:
  -  Russian RTTY
  -  QCWA
  -  Colorado QSO party
  -  Straight Key contest (FISTS)

The RTTY thing may be big, but they should stay higher in the band. Hope
this is better than RDA.
The others don't appear to be major events.
There are a couple of big SSB events that may pull away participants, but
there is no direct conflict on the bands.

Yes, at this point I'm satisfied with the date.
Bruce - do you have any comment?  If not, can you add this to your 2012
calendar?
