[Cwo] first weekend of June?

Let's consider the weekends we have the weekend CWT's as potentials. I'd
rather give one of them up.

Finding a date may well turn into a no-win scenario so we will have to
accept some complications.

1)  Also, it's longer than a CWT and we need that distinction.;

2) Not much of a problem for EU, but much worse in JA.

3) Agree in spades!

4) Hmmmm ... There's more going on than listed at Bruces' site.
1st weekend also has IARU Region 1 Field Day which will wipe out EU, and
SEANET which will wipe out Asia.
2nd weekend has ARRL VHF, GACW DX (Argentina - 500 logs !!), DRCG RTTY
(German), VK contest
3rd weekend has AA test (major !)
4th weekend has ARRL Field Day

2nd weekend has the best liklihood at this time. Need to get info on how
big those events are. I'm gun shy now because we discounted RDA as

5) July
1st weekend has DL DX RTTY, Last year they had 500 logs, so this is a big
2nd weekend has IARU HF
3rd weekend has NAQP RTTY,
4th weekend has IOTA contest

No obvious winner.

1. Leave the 4 hour stint alone. It's long enough to not feel like a
contest and yet long enough to be more than a sprint.

2. I would not start the event at 00z on Sunday because that puts the
last session to close to when people are either getting ready for work or
are needing to sleep for work.

3. Finding another date seems critical based on the feedback I've
seen. I'm saddened to see the low number of logs coming from everywhere
except W.

4. The first weekend of June is the weekend right after WPX and since
it's also Memorial Day, this is the start of summer and guys will have a
hard time getting two weekends in a row.

5. This year, July 16/17 had the Saturday CWT, DMC RTTY, CQ WW VHF,
and a few other minor ones. Perhaps this is our new date? In 2012, that
would be July 21/22.

Nothing yet from Bruce.

We are all copied, so I think we'll all hear together.

Even as it was, CWO overlapped RDA with only 6 of the 12 hours... I think.
I was caught by surprise the impact of the keyman event in JA which is 12Z
to 12Z. At 12z the JAs were massive and loud on 40... and none of them
would talk to me. We need to get both JA and EU participation way up there.

Still, an interesting idea.

Any word from Bruce?

The only thing I would change is the date. Here's an idea....what

if our contest started at 00:00 UTC Sunday and went for 3 periods of

4 hours? Two periods would avoid the RDA on Sunday. AND, the 00:00

period for statesiders would mostly avoid the RDA as well.

June might work as well......
