[ARDF] 80 meter antenna question

Mike,I'll echo Dales comments about using the ARRL Handbook designs as the best place to start. I use a small Yaesu receiver with ferrite rod, or loop, with a sense antenna. The arrangement isn't the most handy thing to carry because you need a way to mount the pot for the sense antenna, but it works.
I've not found the lack of attenuation to be a problem, but as I get within 100 feet or so of the transmitter I hear the signal distort due to leakage through the case (or overload).
